Why should I choose St. Luke Publishers?
At St. Luke Publishers, we take your book from beginning to end at a price that you can afford. Our staff will take your manuscript and turn it into a versatile e-book and/or print-on-demand book for you. Our graphic design team will design two professional covers for you to choose from. (This cost is included in your publishing solution. You will keep all of the rights to your work, and on top of that, we make your books available to all major e-book outlets.
What kinds of books do you publish?
St. Luke Publishers publishes Christian books, and we reserve the right not to publish a book if it is not in agreement with our statement of faith. (Please read our statement of faith before submitting any title.) We primarily publish Christian living, self-help, poetry, theology, fiction, and seasonal titles.
Do I get a chance to review the book before it is distributed?
Yes, we send each author an online proof copy of their book before it is distributed. For authors who choose the integrated publishing package, a printed proof copy is available upon request.
How long does it take?
Generally, it takes about 7-10 days to get your book formatted and ready for distribution to the various e-book retailers. It takes about 60 days for a print-on-demand book.
Do I get to keep the rights to my book?
Yes, you will retain all copyrights for the book. Our publishing agreement allows you to take your book to another publisher if you so desire. All we ask is that you let us know in writing, at least 60 days prior to moving the book to another publisher.
Will bookstores stock my book on their shelves?
It's up to each individual store as to whether or not they choose to stock your book. But we do promise that your book will be available to order in all major bookstores when customers ask for it.
Will my print-on-demand book be listed with Amazon.com?
Yes. Once your book has been printed, your book will be available to order from Amazon.com within approximately two weeks.
What determines the retail price of my book?
The retail price of your book is determined by your book's page count. You may also suggest a retail price for your book if you so desire.
Will my book have an ISBN?
Yes. Your book will be assigned the International Standard Book Number (ISBN) that is required for every book so that sales can be tracked and so that bookstores and retailers can search for your book and order it. Also, the Bookland/EAN bar code will be placed on the back of your book. Without this barcode, bookstores can't order copies of your book. An additional ISBN will also be supplied for your e-book. The Apple iBookstore requires that all books have an ISBN different from the ISBN of the print book
Who owns the copyright to my book?
You own the copyright to your book. However, we recommend that you register with the U.S. Copyright Office, which records your ownership of your work in a formal manner and they give you better recourse in case of copyright infringement. You may handle this yourself. Or, if you would like for St. Luke Publishers to handle this for you, we can do so for a fee of $135.00 on top of the government filing fee.
Do you offer editorial services?
St. Luke Publishers does not offer editorial services, but we do use Fresh Eyes Proofreading and Editing which has done great work for many other authors. You may visit their website at www.FreshEyesProofreadingandEditing.com.
