What kinds of books do you publish?

St. Luke Publishers publishes Christian books, and we reserve the right not to publish a book if it is not in agreement with our statement of faith. (Please read our statement of faith before submitting any title.) We primarily publish Christian living, self-help, poetry, theology, fiction, and seasonal titles.

What about a book cover?

A professional book cover design is included in the e-book publishing package. You will receive two cover designs to choose from, and you will be able to request revisions to the cover at anytime during the publishing process.

How long does my book have to be?

We recommend a minimum page count of 15 single-spaced, manuscript pages or over 5,000 words. Once you meet this suggested length, your e-book can be as long as you want.

Do I get a chance to review the e-book before it is published?

Yes, we send each author an online proof copy of their e-book before it is distributed.

How long will it take to make my e-book available?

The publishing process (formatting, cover design, and e-book setup) normally takes about 7-10 days to complete. Once we receive your approval of the e-book, we will upload it to the e-book retailers.

Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook will have your book available within 48-72 hours.

Google E-books will have your book available within 7-14 days.

Sony Reader, Apple iPad, and Kobo Reader will have your book available within 15-30 days.

How will I track my sales?

Once your book is published, you will receive a username and password to access your client account where e-book sales are recorded each month. The sales data is recorded in the first week of each month.

Can you give me a pricing/royalty breakdown?

Sure, here's how it works:

  • Amazon Kindle takes a 30% cut of the price of the e-book (as long as the price is between $2.99 and $9.99). So, for example, if your e-book sells for $5.00, Amazon will take $1.50, you will receive $2.50, and St. Luke will receive $1.00.
  • Barnes and Noble Nook pays publishers 65% of the price of the e-book.
  • Apple iBookstore pays publishers 60% of the price of the e-book.
  • Sony Reader pays publishers 60% of the price of the e-book.
  • Kobo Reader pays publishers 60% of the price of the e-book.
  • Google eBooks pays publishers 52% of the price of the e-book.
